Here is a theory I made
up about the story of Macavity. I’m not saying its true, but I thought it was neat.
It was the Jellicle ball.
There was a light breeze blowing through the Junkyard. The summer evening was nice and cold. It was quite a relief compared
to the boiling day climate.
Plato sat on the tire watching Victoria.
His dark brown eyes glimmering with excitement. How he adored her so. He had
heard a rumor that she liked him too. He was praying to the heavyside layer it was true! Victoria had such grace in her dances.
Plato couldn’t help but let out a dreamy sigh. Jennyanydots noticed and jumped beside him from up on the car.
“Victoria huh?” Jenny
smiled.
Plato looked up and blushed slightly.
“Um... Yeah.” He gave a sheepish smile.
Jenny smiled softly. She thought
it was sweet; the thought of such a couple. The only thing that bothered her was Plato’s odd ways. He was somewhat violent
at times. The older Jellicles had known him to be what they had called, ‘unstable’. Jenny had also known him to
be unstable. Just weeks before, he had thrown Mistoffelees off the car and nearly broken his leg because Mistoffelees told
him he thought Victoria was pretty too. Jenny didn’t want to put Victoria in that type of position.
“Why don’t you go dance
as well? It’s looks like fun doesn’t it?” Jenny added.
Plato nodded and leapt off the car
and dance by the moon with the others. Jenny’s stomach was in a knot, but she couldn’t quite figure out why.
Later on, Victoria was standing
alone while the other Jellicles rested. Plato was about to stand up when Mistoffelees approached her. He took Victoria’s
hand and smiled. Victoria stepped towards him and placed a kiss on Mistoffelees’ whiskers. Plato’s ears perked
up and his eyes became flaming. His ear twitched and he stormed towards the lovers. He grabbed Mistoffelees by the bow and
flung him into the car. He looked at Victoria with soft eyes, “Why? Why him? I’ve always loved you. How couldn’t
you see that?”
Victoria’s blue eyes went
from glimmering to dull in seconds. Then in the voice no one ever heard often she replied, “I knew you loved me. I knew
you cared about me. The rumors were made up to confuse you. I tried to stop them but rumors aren’t easy to stop.”
Plato’s eyes became cold,
“Why Mistoffelees? Why the conjuring cat?”
Victoria was by then by Mistoffelees
at the car helping him up, “He has a very kind heart.”
Plato glared at them both, “You
all are sickening! Your ridiculous dancing and singing! You foolish Jellicle ways!” He took a swipe at Victoria leaving
a gash in her shoulder. Mistoffelees caught her as she flew to the ground. He watched as Plato fought his way through the
Junkyard towards the gates never to be seen again.
Several years pass…
Victoria is older now. She didn’t
accept Mistoffelees as her mate. She couldn’t bare it. All those memories of brushing Plato off; Trying to give him
the hint. Victoria and Mistoffelees are still good friends, though some think they are to be more then friends.
Once again the music picks up and
the Jellicles begin to dance. Victoria sits alone on the fence, above the car. She looks up into the piles of junk high above
the Junkyard to see a tall ginger figure with dark brown eyes that are glimmering with excitement.
(NOTES OF THE TEXT: Plato’s fur is ginger and ragged now because after Victoria rejected him, he discontinued
grooming and slowly became insane).
